Patricia Van Haren is a Collaborative Family Law Attorney and Mediator who works with families to minimize the impact of divorce on their children and gives them a process to learn to restructure the family unit without destroying it.  Prior to attending law school, Patricia worked as a family law paralegal for 20 years and her entire career has been dedicated to family law.  She worked as a Family Law and Trust litigation attorney for 10 years while doing mediation and collaborative work.  Patricia is also on the Minor’s Counsel List for Orange County and Los Angeles County.

Throughout 2020, Patricia wound down her litigation practice and focused solely on building her mediation and collaborative practice.  Starting in January 2021, she made the complete shift in practice and now solely works as a mediator and collaborative attorney.  Patricia has a child-focused practice and seeks to assist families in minimizing the impact that divorce can have on the family.  Patricia works with attorneys in mediating high conflict family law and trust and estate matters and is skilled in assisting families and their counsel to resolve highly contested matters.  She uses breakout rooms and has performed numerous online mediations for families and their attorneys.

Patricia regularly attends trainings for Mediation and Collaborative cases and is on the board of Virtual Divorce Solutions of Los Angeles and Collaborative Divorce Solutions of Orange County.  Patricia is on the marketing committee of the American Bar Association – Alternative Dispute Resolution and was the recent Co-Editor of the Just Resolutions Newsletter for the American Bar Association. Patricia is also in case consultation groups with other collaborative family law attorneys and mediators. Patricia has a structured mediation technique which she uses to enable parties to move closer to case resolution.

Patricia believes in educating the public and her clients about the Divorce Process.  She regularly publishes blog articles, creates educational videos, hosts monthly workshops, and has written a book intended to educate people who have questions about Divorce.  In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her three adult children and three dogs.
